
Allan Hoving has more than 20 years of experience at leading print and online properties. He has held editorial, marketing, and production positions at New York Magazine, Rolling Stone, HR Outsourcing Today, MediaPost, and the high-tech B2B publications of F&G Thomson Financial.
He began his career at Rolling Stone, where he copy-edited cover stories, features and departments by Hunter S. Thompson, Tom Wolfe, and many others. In pursuit of bylines, he spent 18 months as a reporter/editor at the Staten Island Advance Newhouse daily newspaper. He returned to Manhattan to edit special advertising sections at New York Magazine for seven years. During the 1990s technology boom, Allan was Custom Publishing Director at Faulkner & Gray, a division of Thomson Financial, producing sponsored supplements for Microsoft, Sun, Oracle, Visa, Mastercard, Dell, Compaq, and many others.
In the Internet era, Allan joined Mediapost.com, developing and launching its monthly print companion, MEDIA Magazine (now called OMMA). As Editor and Publishing Director, he oversaw all aspects from editorial, design, and production to email marketing and circulation. He also wrote the magazine’s “Media Circus” column, moderated MEDIA’s “Forecast 2002″ conference, and created a spin-off edition of MEDIA dealing with traditional advertising.
Allan graduated with honors from Columbia University and was a news announcer on the college radio station, WKCR. He is completing a Master’s degree in Interactive Communications at Quinnipiac University. He lives in Westport, CT, with his wife and two children.
